Binder for cutting grain.

The binder actually cut the crop then tied off the sheaves before depositing them on the ground before the workers came and did the stooking so they could dry out before going into stacks at the stackyards at the farms. My own father last did this in 1976 at Newhall Mains.

I myself last had the pleasure of filling my hands with stabs doing this in 1979 when I worked down in Methlick in Aberdeen shire
