I think I asked this on an earlier occasion When did the Marine cease to be an Hotel? I worked there[damned hard] in1958-9 the chef was a hard taskmaster [I forget his name] a lot of girls from the west coast ie Stornaway used to come for the season every year can anyone enlighten me? thanks

The white house in the foreground beside the burn used to be the laundry for Fort George. The ferry from the point (Chanonry) to the fort was used until the skipper of the ferry was drowned, presumed drunk.

Mary,Mary,quite contrary.how does your garden grow?.you sure ask a lot of questions kid.the chef was a Mr Allan.Hotel work is hard work.there ai'nt nae easy way round it.even today with all mod cons.it's still hard work.yes many stornoway lasses worked there in the season. & married local lads. & are still living in the villages to this very day.when it became an old folks home I cannot tell you.
