The Fairy Glen Poem by J.Reddigan.Let me rhyme of a place where maybe you've never been.Or maybe of a glen where the eye can't ignore such peace serene. Each autumn summer wears it's seasonal coats of russet & green.Flow on Rosemarkie burn flow gently along on your way to the sea.Hundreds of years you've aye been there for generations to see.Her fauna & flora of fawn & deer wild ferns silver birch tree.Ancient tales of fairy rings the old pond a landmark in our history.Walk by her pathways and you will come to her singing waterfall.Rest a while absorb the peace tranquillity loved by one & all.Her clay peaks a-towering tae the sky shrouded in mist now & then.Legend has it the fairy's carried away a man who was never seen again.By the side of a waterfall or by some watery trough or well. It's said there dwells a native fern from st. Helena's island a tale they tell.A mansion amid the glen a man named Crookie did reside. They called it Drumarkie then St.Helena those who came to bide.Steeped in history is the mysteries of Rosemarkie's fairy glen.A place of artistic beauty inspires the painter poet with paper oils & pen. After Waterloo Napoleon with Dr.Ebbitson to St.Helena island did retreat. The seventies saw Mr Ebbitson came to dwell called it St.Helena history to repeat.I feel sorry for the poor local councillors budgets being so tight.Maybe a suggestion from me could help your funds egnite. To the Scottish Tourist Board be adventurous a new attraction try. A magical mystery fairy hunt tour on your tourists you might imply. The deep hidden secrets of Rosemarkie's fairy glen will never be exposed.Myths & legends.say fairys exist that's it's fascination I suppose. If this government get's it's way taxation on the fairy's they would impose. In the meantime enjoy it's ambience for the future who really knows.written by J. Reddigan 15/5/13/.
